Milky Way to Lala Land

Man, I can’t sleep…

You got sleep problem? Well, I do; especially when you have things bugging you (eg. …exams?).

I daresay that everyone of us have had this; you know, tossing around on bed, awoken in the middle of nights, feeling some kind of fatigue upon wake up, blogging at hours you should be dreaming…well, you know what I mean.

Actually, you can help it out by some simple steps; unless you are suffering from serious sleep disorders; that one, man, go see doctor.

Our sleep is affected by various factors; mostly body clock which is very photosensitive. What we eat also apparently giving out effects. Now, if you think you have occasional trouble going to sleep, do this. Drink milk. Yup, you heard it right. No bluff, pranks, whatever. And seriously, man, you don’t look less masculine drinking milk. This is biochemistry we are talking about, mister.

An essential amino acid (requires intake through diet), namely tryptophan, is a brain calming material. Our body converts tryptophan into melatonin and serotonin; which are thought as sleep inducer. Combined with some carbohydrate in the diet, say, bread, you’re good to go. Carbohydrate and calcium help in the usage of the tryptophan.

Milk alone of course won’t do the trick. But it will definitely help you get a better night sleep. You need one; or else, your performance in the following day will be impaired.
